BUSINESS LEADERS HAVE $1,000 TO INVEST IN GOOD IDEAS >
What do Nancy Mathis, Executive Director from the G. Wallace F. McCain Institute, Eleanor Marshall, VP & Treasurer for Bell Aliant Regional Communications, Bob Bittle from Bob’s Home Furnishings, and Derek Oland, Executive Chairman from Moosehead Breweries Limited have in common?
They have $1,000 to invest in good ideas at this year’s Aliant Business Pitch Competition. The investors, known as Dr. Nancy, Ms. Cash, Super Bob, and Mr. Beer, will be on the look-out for creative ideas worthy of investment.
The competition, taking place on March 27th, will be headquartered at Sebastian on Princess Street Uptown. Every five minutes a long, black limousine will pull up at the door. One competitor will jump out, and another will step inside.
People who enter the competition will have two minutes to pitch their business idea while the limousine drives around the block. They will also have a few minutes to answer questions from the investors.
Enterprise Saint John’s Emerging Entrepreneurs program is organizing this event and is looking for people to step forward with their good ideas. Everyone is welcome to participate.
“We have many creative people in our community,” said Lois Vincent, Manager Business Development for Enterprise Saint John. “Everything starts from an idea. We want more world-class businesses to come from New Brunswick. With encouragement and resources, we can grow the next great business right here. We want to hear these ideas; we want to invest in them.”
Deadline to register for the Aliant Business Pitch Competition is March 20th, 2008.
For people who would like to learn more about developing a pitch, Emerging Entrepreneurs is holding a Business Pitch workshop on Wednesday, March 12th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Business Resource Centre at 40 King Street.
